Floating on the waters of the Dead Sea!

It's our last full day together. This sad thought made me wake up at 6.30am. But it was spectacular to see the sunshine gently bathing the mountains of Wadi Rum.

My early start began with lots of laughter as Haider was already up, taking pictures of our Bedouin camp and some of the tourists who had come to stay at the Captain's Camp the night before. Best of all, our guide Awad was already here to say goodbye. Awad, Haider and I started clapping and playing the 'Dembuka' but soon stopped because we realized people were still sleeping.

It was our last day in Syria and you could feel everyone's disappointment to be leaving. We packed our bags and headed to our last destination - Aleppo. This city is not to be missed; it is full of character and charm and is steeped in history.

On arrival we checked into Planet Hotel, located in the heart of the suq, and headed to Citadel of Aleppo. This grand castle was built between 12 and 16AD on a 50 metre high hill. It contains everything a city needs including a mosque, dungeons, amphitheatre, baths, water cisterns, store houses, a school and so on.

'Friendships can overcome borders'

Over the course of the trip, Ali and the rest of the Friendship Arabia team have been receiving many messages of encouragement. From time to time, we will feature some of these on the site.

Here's what Biljana Davceva has to say:

"I am a Macedonian who lives and works in Bahrain. I can't tell you how happy I am that Ali has visited my country on his route through the Middle East and Europe.

"I do hope that he will have wonderful memories from Macedonia and that my people have given him warm hospitality just like the Bahrainis have offered me their hospitality and friendship during the past 5 years here in Bahrain.

"Your trip is proof that friendships and humanity can overcome any borders. Good luck for the rest of your trip."

Dinner with Defne, Elvan and Ahmet

It's been a wild three weeks since our journey started. There's been something new to experience everyday, places to see and people to meet in what has seemed like a never ending journey. I was fortunate to be chosen as a photographer for this amazing trip. It was definitely worthwhile and exciting. While it could not be at par with other events in terms of grandiosity, the whole trip was certainly a blast

Today I leave Friendship Arabia, though I will catch up with Ali on his way back from Britain, sometime around mid July.

We had only one full day pencilled in for Istanbul and today was that day. We tried to make the best of it.

It's my last day on Corfu Island, but Greece and its islands are like a second home for me and I know I will be back.

Tomorrow morning, I take the ferry to Venice where I will stay for two days and then travel for another three days to other cities in Italy.
